Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Children who experience learning difficulties will receive extra help either individually or in a small group provided by teachers, learning support assistants or helpers.

At HTL, we believe that every child is a unique and valuable member of our school family. Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is rooted in love, respect, and celebration.

We are dedicated to creating a truly inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging. Our goal is to ensure all children can thrive, learn, and grow together, regardless of their individual needs. We celebrate the diversity of our learners and recognise that different ways of thinking and learning enrich our whole school community.

We are committed to providing a loving and nurturing environment where your child is seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. We work closely with families and external professionals to create a holistic support system that empowers every child to reach their full potential.

Class teachers are responsible for the children’s educational progress and they will discuss any concerns they might have with the SENCO, Head Teacher and the child's parents.

After extensive parent/school liaison, it may be felt appropriate to involve other agencies such as the Education Psychology and Assessment Service (EPAS).

Parents will be kept informed and involved at all levels of this procedure. Children with a Statement of Special Needs will receive additional support fulfilling any requirement detailed in the Statement.
