Parents

We have been moving our Parent communications across to a new platform which enables our parents online access to a Parent Portal and Mobile App.

Please ensure that you have activated the account as future Parents Evenings will be booked through this system.  You should also be able to view newsletters and the parents evening arrangements through the Mobile App.

Attendance and Punctuality

A good education gives children the best possible start in life. All children at Holy Trinity Lamorbey (HTL) have an equal chance of making good use of the education offered; to achieve this, it is of vital importance that children attend school regularly and punctually. Children who do not attend school regularly and on time have difficulty keeping up with learning.

At HTL the school day starts at 8.40am and registers close at 8.55am. School finishes at 3.15pm.

ATTENDING SCHOOL EVERY DAY helps your child:

  • To take part in lessons, access learning and reach their full potential
  • To be involved in all aspects of school life
  • To enjoy a structured routine
  • To make friends and develop social skills
  • To feel part of the school community
  • To value and understand the importance of education
  • To have greater success throughout secondary school

At HTL we recognise the role parents and carers have to play in supporting and encouraging good attendance and punctuality. We work together to ensure the children access teaching and learning and that parents and carers fulfil their legal responsibility.

The impact of attendance on children’s learning:

Lateness - the Impact on Learning

AS PARENTS/CARERS IT IS YOUR LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILD COMES TO SCHOOL REGULARLY AND ON TIME. ALL ABSENCE AND LATENESS IS MONITORED BY THE SCHOOL AND THE EDUCATION WELFARE OFFICER.

Lateness has a negative impact. Being late may disrupt lessons, affect achievement and embarrass or upset your child.

COMING TO SCHOOL ON TIME EVERY DAY helps your child:

  •  To be ready for learning and not miss learning opportunities
  •  To settle into the day
  •  To get into good habits for the future, both in schooling and work

Normal School Day

School starts promptly at 8.40am and children should arrive in good time for when their classroom doors open.

School ends at 3.15pm. Gates open at 3.10pm and children should be collected promptly at 3.15pm.  If children are not collected from their classrooms by 3.25pm they will be taken to late collection outside the School Office.

The impact of lateness on your child’s learning:

5 minutes late every day

3 days lost each year

10 minutes late every day

6 days lost each year

15 minutes late every day

10 days lost each year

30 minutes late every day

19 days lost each year

REQUESTS FOR ABSENCES:

HOLIDAYS – as a school we do NOT permit or authorise any holidays taken outside of the term dates. The termly dates can be found on our website, newsletters or via the school office. These are published at the end and start of each school year.  We will not authorise absence for outings, shopping trips or family visits. Medical appointments should be made out of school hours if possible. If your child needs to see a doctor or a dentist during the school day they should attend school for as much of the day as possible.

Remember – Every Day Counts and being on time means not missing out
