To introduce year 3 to their new topic of volcanoes, (with a key focus on Mount Vesuvius), we discussed the children's prior knowledge and vocabulary around volcanoes and then showed them some amazing videos of the natural phenomenon.

Children expressed a range of emotions from being wowed and amazed, to feeling concern and worry about anyone who would be living close to one.  Year 3 then created their own volcano artwork using pastels and chalk.  These are now on display in our classrooms.
